David Sirota, Ph.D.
Chairman Emeritus, Sirota Survey Intelligence
David Sirota has been engaged in behavioral research and its applications for
over 30 years. Since founding Sirota Survey Intelligence in 1972, he has established a
national reputation for improving organization performance through the
systematic assessment and management of employee, customer and community
relations. Dr. Sirota's approach starts not with solutions, but rather with
problem definition through careful diagnosis of the viewpoints of key corporate
constituencies. He then works closely with management in developing tailored
solutions to specific constituency concerns.
From 1959 through 1972, Dr. Sirota served as a Director of Behavioral Science
Research and Application for IBM. His activities there included the
establishment of IBM's worldwide employee attitude survey program.
Dr. Sirota has a broad industrial and academic background. With a doctorate
from the University of Michigan, he was Study Director at that University's
Institute for Social Research.
Dr. Sirota has taught at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations of
Cornell University, at Yale University, and the Sloan School of Management of
the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His most recent academic position was
Associate Professor of Management at the Wharton School of the University of
Pennsylvania.
Dr. Sirota has been featured in BusinessWeek, Fortune and
The New York Times, and his writings have been published in The Advanced
Management Journal, The Conference Board Record, Harvard Business
Review, The Journal for Quality and Participation, The Total
Quality Review, The Wharton Quarterly and numerous other journals and
conference proceedings.
Louis A. Mischkind,
Ph.D.
(1935 - 2007)
Dr. Mischkind worked in organizational effectiveness research for 35
years, including employee and customer surveys, organization development, change
management, executive selection and development, assessment centers and
technical vitality. In addition to his role as Senior Vice President at Sirota
Survey Intelligence, he was Research Fellow of the David Sirota Research Foundation for
the Social Sciences.
Dr. Mischkind's multi-constituency customer satisfaction clients in the
public sector included the Dallas Independent School District (teachers,
principals, students, central office staff, support staff); NAFTA/TAA (trade
affected workers, employers, training providers and associates); SESA Skills and
Training Program-capacity building for State Employment Security personnel; and
State of Florida Division of Jobs and Benefits (job seekers, employers, and
associates). His private sector clients included Heidrick & Struggles, Computer
Sciences Corporation, Crescent Real Estate, Mayo Clinic, New York Times Company
and Dow Jones.
Prior to joining Sirota Survey Intelligence, Dr. Mischkind was Program Director of
executive development at IBM and Special Advisor on human resources to the
President of the General Products Division. Dr. Mischkind taught courses in
social and organizational psychology at New York University, Santa Clara
University and San Jose State University.
Dr. Mischkind held a Masters Degree in Experimental Psychology from Columbia
University and a Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from New York University. He
was published in such journals as the Journal of Applied Psychology,
Technology Management, Personnel and Quality Observer. He
was also a member of the American Psychological Association.
Michael Irwin Meltzer,
JD.
Chief Executive Officer
Michael Meltzer joined Sirota in 2001 as a Managing Director and General Counsel. He became the Chief Operating Officer in 2004 and was later named CEO in January, 2007.
Mr. Meltzer graduated from The George Washington University in 1972 and received a JD degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1975. Mr. Meltzer actively practiced law for 25 years, focusing predominantly on business matters and real estate. During this time, he represented Sirota, ultimately becoming its general counsel as well as an outside director. Prior to joining Sirota Mr. Meltzer also served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Pace University, teaching business organizations, real estate law and trusts and estates.
In addition, Mr. Meltzer has presented at industry events, including the Society for Industrial Organizational Psychology (SIOP) on such topics as procuring professional services in large organizations as well as on ethics and compliance issues.
